Keita Sano has been making a bit of noise and an awful lot of records for the past four years, oftentimes with little connecting the dots except for a consistently adventurous approach that keeps people guessing what will happen next. His tracks run across the board from experimental fragments to disco, house, even the darkest shades of acid and techno, generally assembled with some consistency on indivual releases with a wider variation across his discography. It’s probably too early to tell what, if any, groove Sano is going to settle into, but for now the bracing weirdness and diverse, aggressively fragmented aesthetic has earned him releases on 1080p, Spring Theory, New York’s Mr. Saturday Night, Most Excellent Unltd., LET’S PLAY HOUSE and Sheik ‘n’ Beik, Discos Capablanca, and a few too many others to name. IofM is fully behind this rule-bucking attitude, so we’re proud to welcome him to the States to make his NYC live debut.

Returning after a few months following a fantastic DJ set closing for Terrence Dixon in November, we’re pleased to welcome back Simone Gatto for his US live PA debut. His profile has been growing steadily for the last year or so, with a new mini-album on Orlando Voorn’s Nightvision Records, a forthcoming solo album on a famous Dutch label, and releases on his own Out-Er imprint including a star-studded anniversary compilation, a solo album from Voorn, material from Terrence Dixon, and a new duo album from Voorn as Frequency alongside Detroit legend Juan Atkins. Out-Er is soon appearing on the Boiler Room in Berlin as well as keeping a busy schedule of European and US dates this fall and spring.

Still definitely on the underground tip but surely rising, Jon Fay is a NYC-based artist who spent some time absorbing the needed lessons before delivering his opening salvo on Lobster Theremin sublabel Mörk. Dub techno of a kind rarely realized nowadays, his debut shows much promise, and we offer him early support with one of his first major NYC dates closing this event. in anticipation of forthcoming work on both Lobster Theremin’s main label and Mörk.
